The stone for this lithograph was originally drawn in black as were the other three lithographs in the series. However, the publisher, André Sauret asked Picasso if he would add a little colour to the image. Picasso had a box of crayons of 24 different colours and used each of them to colour this image. Much to his surprise the Mourlot studio printers succeeded in the difficult task of printing all 24 colours plus black. This explains the two dates on this print. The black version was drawn 6.3.61 and the colours added 21.4.61.
