Emile Frédéric Salmon

Emile Frédéric Salmon (French, 1840-1913)

Emile Frédéric Salmon was the son of the painter Theodore Frédéric Salmon. He specialised in etching and engraving under the tutelage of Pierre Alexandre Hédouin, (1820-1889). He went to Saint Petersburg with his father where he remained from 1896 to 1901 with his family and learnt Russian. He went on to have four children with Sophie Julie Cattiaux the last of whom was the great French writer and art lover, André Salmon.
