Barry Flanagan ARA (British, b. 1941)


The renowned sculptor was born in North Wales in 1941. He studied at Birmingham College of Art and Crafts until 1958, then at St. Martin's School of Art until 1966 where he also taught. Numerous important sculptured have been commissioned and can be seen at Lioncoln's Inn Fields, London, Equitable Life Tower West, New York, Victoria Plaza, London, The Ivy restaurant London to name but a few. Major exhibitions of his work have been held in Madird (Fundacion La Caixa, 1993-4), Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, The Netherlands (1977-9), Yorkshire Sculpture Park 1992, The Pace Gallery, New York, 1994, amongst others. His work is held by numerous public and private collections including: Art Institute of Chicago, Arts Council of Great Britain, London, Baltimore Museum of Art, Government Art Collection, London, Museum of Modern Art, New York, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, Tate Gallery, London, Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
